Rations For The Journey 3
Proverbs 1:1,3
The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel: to receive the instructions of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and equity.
Have you ever tried to assemble anything? I have bought or was given toys that required assembly. And many times…try as I might, I could not get the toy finished, the parts just didn’t seem to go together. And more often than I would like to remember, or even worse admit, in my frustration I have thrown the pieces across the room, never finishing the project.
I have found that living the Christian life can be just as frustrating sometimes. You would think that nothing should be easier, but as hard as we might try to live as God would want us to…we find that sometimes we can’t quite do it.
It reminds me of what brother Paul told us he went through in Romans chapter 7.
We need help. We need instructions. And God is more than willing to give us that instruction if we would only ask. Through prayer, Scripture, and the support of our brothers and sisters in Christ, we can find the love and instruction we need to make the christian life a little easier and more fulfilling.
What seems impossible to accomplish on our own, becomes not only possible but a pleasure when we have help.
Beloved, we are never alone. Not only has God given us The Holy Spirit as our comforter and guide…He has given us each other.
Prayer: Father, show me how you want me to be and act when I struggle with life. Grant me your wisdom to lead me through. Open my eyes, my heart, and my spirit. Amen
